cuniforms are in the air

This is a love poem and was used to illustrate last year’s winners of the Eisenbrauns Ancient Near Eastern Valentine Contest, where scholars are invited to submit translations of love poems. The following is not the winner from this year but it is my favorite.

For whom did my arms toil?
For whom did the blood of my heart run dry?
Where should I go?
For you, with you, with you…

Thank you, Brian Doak of Harvard! Check out all the winners of this year’s contest here, and have a passionate day.
