Inspiration Wednesday came on Saturday for me, when my husband and I attended the Pacific Northwest Ballet’s production of Giselle. “That’s that thing where they put the words up on the screen because everyone is shouting and you can’t understand, right?” What can I say – he spent his youth playing baseball in Queens.
I hadn’t been to the ballet in decades. Just like live theater or music or anything else where you have to be in the room to feel the magic, the ballet made me say, “Why don’t I do this every week?”
The first act was all abot the charm of the costumes, set pieces and arranging the furniture in the house of the story. But the second act – the second act made you realize why every little girl and plenty of boys want to grow up to dance ballet. The magic of the costumes, the lighting, the marvelous work of the corps, the scenery and the foamy, dynamic, airy and athletic dance. Magic. Wish you could have been there. For now, enjoy the video. Inspiration Wednesday should be about trying out something new – or something old – for a change. It’s the full moon, live a little.
